Winners for Challenge #179: One Layer Valentine

Hello, stampers!  We were all wowed by your One Layer Valentines this week! As always, you made chosing winners a tough job! Before we show you Sandy's Headliner, lets check out the picks of the rest of the design team:

And now, Sandy's choice for Headliner:

Shelley Germann

Shelley did such an amazing job of adding detail and texture to her one layer creation. Her masking, spritzing and coloring gave the illusion of so many more layers. This was truly a labor of "love" and I envy the lucky recipient! Congratulations, Shelley, for being my Headliner this week!

Be sure to tune in tomorrow for an amazing sketch by Ann Schach!  See you then!

There is still time to play in Challenge #179: Sandy's One Layer Valentine Challenge!

There is still time to play in Challenge #179: Sandy's One Layer Valentine Challenge!  Whew! What a challenge this is!  A one-layer card is just that...a single piece of card stock folded in half with no other layers of any kind, including die cuts.  Embellishments, like rhinestones, pearls, sequins and Washi tape are to be kept at a minimum.  Remember, when making one-layer cards, "less is more"!

Winners for Challenge #177: Nance's Theme Challenge

Hi friends, Nance here. Big thanks to all who played along with our first challenge of 2014. We loved seeing all the different looks you achieved with the chalkboard technique.  From sweet and sassy to elegant and classy, you hit them all! Before I announce the headliner, let’s see what caught the eye of the rest of the design team:

And now...Nance's choice for Headliner...

Dawn Tidd

Dawn's blog is called Tidbits from Dawn and it's truly the little tidbits of this card that have me swooning!  Her stamp choice for the chalkboard is perfect and the way she changed it up by adding the love banner is genius and did you notice those tiny green hearts!  I love the little scalloped cork accents and how the tiny bow adds just a splash of another color.  Not only did she make a coordinating and lined envelope, she finished the inside off beautifully!  Everything about this card is detailed and all those elements add up to one stunning Headliner card!  Kudos to you, Dawn!

Please join us tomorrow when lovely LeAnne brings us a color challenge to brighten our winter days!

The Paper Players #177: A Theme Challenge from Nance

Happy New Year!  Thank you for checking in with us for our first challenge of 2014.  The Design Team enjoyed a much-needed break over the holidays and are rarin' to go!  Nance here, as your Theme Challenge hostess this week.  For me, January means a fresh start, a clean slate so I thought it would be fun to showcase projects using the Chalkboard Technique:
Now, "A Clean Slate" does not mean this is a clean-and-simple challenge.  Just feature the Chalkboard (slate, get it?!) Technique while adding as many layers and elements you wish.  For step-by-step directions on how to achieve the Chalkboard look, check out this great tutorial and take a look at the fabulous inspiration from our Design Team:
