The Design Team's selections for A Cut Above are....

This week's Headliner is......

Allisa!!

Yeehaw, ride ‘em cowboy!  Allisa sure did a rootin’-tootin’ fabulous job with this week’s sketch.  What a great combination of papers, colors, stamps and embellishments.  I love how the geometry of the chevrons coordinates with the block design on the patterned paper and that little cowboy hat charm is just the perfect touch!  Congratulations, Allisa, you’re my choice for this week’s Headliner!

Congratulations to all the winners. Be sure to check back tomorrow for a fun challenge from Lesley--it's full of Xs and Os!

Winners for Challenge #91 - Jaydee's CAS Watercoloring Challenge

Hi Everyone.
Thank you all for joining us last week.   You really rocked my CAS watercoloring challenge and proved that this technique can be used for so many different types of cards.  The cards ranged from birthday cards for children, to thank you cards, Mother's Day cards and even sympathy cards.  You created a stunning variety of cards and that made it difficult for all of us to make our choices.

So, let's take a look at what caught the eye of our design team this week.

Our picks for A Cut Above

Ann's Choice: Sue Wieberg
Crafting the Day Away

Sue's bright and cheery card caught my attention this week!  Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango may just be my new favorite color combination! I love how she watercolored the parasol image, and the layout she selected is fabulous! Of course, the button with its twine bow is the perfect touch! Congratulations, Sue, on being my choice for A Cut Above!

LeAnne's Choice: Vicki
It's a Stamp Thing

Vicki's pretty spring card is a true testimony that clean and simple doesn't have to be plain and boring!  She cut out the pretty daisy image with a lovely-shaped diecut; her image is simply but beautifully shaded; the matching embossed mat and background add some textural interest; and the ribbon and brads add some zing!  A happy card anyone would love to receive!  Congratulations, Vicki, for being my Cut Above this week!

Nance’s choice: Amanda Burditt

Oh my, Amanda’s soft and lovely creation took my breath away!  Everything about it is so soft and serene from the color selections to the quiet details like the tiny tags and the double row of stamped flowers…one just a little more faint than the other.  And how ‘bout her beautiful watercolored flowers inside the embossed frame?  {Swoon}!  The overall effect is calm, refreshing and beautiful!  Congratulations, Amanda, you’re my choice for A Cut Above!

Lesley's Choice: Janet
Stampin' Nerd

I chose Janet's adorable clean and simple cards because the images were just so sweetly coloured! The fun, bright colours and water colouring looked terrific with this Stampin' Up stamp set. Isn't is adorable the way she rounded two corners and added the Baker's Twine...sweet, sweet cards indeed! Congratulations Janet on being my choice for A Cut Above this week!

Anne Marie's Choice: Jenny Engelke
Giddy Stamper

All aboard the cuteness train! Everything about Jenny's card just makes me happy! Her watercoloring is gorgeous and I love that super fun color combo. How can you not smile with that adorable, little monkey waving at you?! Too cute! The scallop trim adds such a sweet touch, especially that itty-bitty pop behind the banner sentiment. Cheerful and sweet, all around! Congratulations to you, Jenny! You are my pick for A Cut Above this week!

Jenn's Choice: Jen

Watecolouring is one of my favourite techniques and I was so excited when I saw Jaydee's challenge. All of you did a fabulous job bring out your inner artist, but Jen's card really stood out to me with it's simple beauty. She started with a great clean layout and chose the perfect patterned papers to help her beautifully coloured image really stand out. I also love the the way she added ribbon then the button for a contrasting pop of colour. Congratulations Jen on being my Cut Above this week!

Heidi's Choice: Linda
Snail's Space

I fell in love with Linda's card the minute I laid eyes on those sweet little birthday mice ready to dig into this glitter-topped cupcake! So beautifully colored with just the right shading in just the right places. Oh, to have that talent in watercoloring (just a wee bit jealous, Linda!). I love the little touch of the purple/white striped baker's twine matching perfectly the purple paper, which is the perfect color duo to the yellow...and who doesn't love stripes and polka dots?! My favorite part is the glittered border (and cupcake frosting). Linda, congratulations on being A Cut Above!

Shirley's Choice: Connie
Inkspired Treasures

What a fun challenge this week. Thank you, Jaydee for being Hostess. I just had to pick Connie's card this week. I have always wanted to buy this stamp set but, in my head I was thinking "I don't want to watercolor all that!". Here Connie took it and made it a beautiful garden scene. With the fabulous idea to take the Labels framelits and put them on the top and bottom. Looking at the Cajun Craze on the sides it really gives the card a feeling of depth, bringing your eye to the main image. Congratulations, Connie, on being a Cut Above this week!

And now for our HEADLINER...
Jaydee's Choice:  Svetlana

I immediately fell in love with Svetlana's jar of butterflies.  The string, the button, the simple suggestion of daylight coming through the vase, those gorgeously colored butterflies and that simple sentiment - all of these things came together to make a magical card.  One that I kept coming back to again and again.  It truly is clean and simple perfection.  Svetlana, congratulations on being our Headliner this week.

Have a great day!
