Challenge #84 - Sketch from LeAnne

Sketch Challenge #84-From LeAnne

Hi everyone!  LeAnne here with a sketch for you today!  Don't panic when you look at it---it doesn't need to be complicated at all!  I love things in threes, so as long as you have three elements down a center panel with your sentiment across the bottom, you're good to go!  The elements can be any shape or image, and you can use any shape for your sentiment panel as well!  Just use the sketch as a starting point!  I can't wait to see what beautiful creations await us this week!

Winner's for Challenge #83 - Anne Marie's CAS Masculine Theme

Hello there, stamping friends! Happy Saturday to you! We wanted to extend special thanks to everyone who joined us last week for my Clean and Simple (CAS) Masculine Theme Challenge. There were so many fantastic ideas for cards that were perfect for guys of all ages! Now, it is time to see what caught the eye of the Design Team members this week.

Our picks for A Cut Above

LeAnne's Choice:  Sherry Eckblad
I really, really had a difficult time choosing a winner this week!  There were so many great CAS samples with clever ideas, my head was spinning!  But in the end, Sherry's card won out with her lovely forest scene.  I love the earthy colors, her simple twine-embellished panel with lots of white space, and the clean sentiment.  I can smell the fresh pine-scented air as I gaze at her card!!!  Congratulations, Sherry, on being my Cut Above this week!

Jaydee's Choice: Jenny
I immediately fell in love with Jenny's card for her uncle.  The rich, regal colors, so much fabulous white space, the wonderful argyle pattern, the texture on the "65" and the tag and the final touch was the knotted baker's twine. There was so much to look at on this fabulous card - so much to keep your eye engaged - and yet, it is clean and simple perfection.  Absolutely fabulous.  Jenny, congratulations on being my Cut Above this week.

Ann' Choice:  Carla Suto
With a landslide of fabulous Clean and Simple masculine cards, it was so difficult for me to select just one! But in the end, I found that this adorable card by Carla Suto kept capturing my attention.  Maybe it was her impeccable coloring...or maybe it was the whimsical image itself!  Whatever it was, there was no "bogey" here as Carla scored a "hole in one" with this cutie!  You're a winner in my book, Carla.  Congratulations on being my choice for A Cut Above!

Lesley's Choice: Michelle
Wow, this week brought in so many wonderful CAS Masculine cards!  I kept going over the submissions and kept coming back to Michelle's card.  This CAS beauty really caught my eye!  First of all, I just love blue and against the clean, white background...it really pops! The three different natural images look fantastic in white and then sponged over. I love that this card could be mass produced in a variety of colours. The sentiment looks great too as it ties the card all together. I am always in awe of CAS crafters!  This is a wonderful card Michelle! Congratulations on being my choice for A Cut Above this week at the Paper Players.

Nance's Choice: Kim P.

There were so many fantastic guy cards this week and many that stood out for me.  In the end, it was Kim’s extreme guitar dude that hooked me with the colors, collage stamping and rockin’ layout!  Kim effortlessly combined colors and images to make her own designer paper and the clever way she swiped the guitar stamp just adds to the masculine grunge look. I love everything about this card…congratulations Kim, you’re my choice for A Cut Above

And now this week's Headliner:

Anne Marie's Choice: Maureen Merritt
There were so many fantastic CAS cards for the guys this week, it was really difficult to select just one winner. As soon as I saw Maureen's card, I was immediately drawn to the clean, yet elegant, design and the awesome layout. I really like how the stamped frame is perfectly complimented by the flourish on the grungy guitar and that rockin' ric-rac trim. The little pop of textured card stock is a great touch, too. This would be a great card for guys of all ages, who love to "rock and roll" on their big day! Congratulations to you Maureen, on being my choice for this week's Headliner at the Paper Players! You ROCK!

Thanks so much for joining us this week at the Paper Players! Please be sure to stop by and visit tomorrow to see the new sketch challenge that LeAnne has cooked up for us. You are going to love it!

Comments this week....

To all of our valued participants,

As you may know, Blogger has changed the commenting word verification system this week. Many of us have been experiencing difficulties reading those two verification words we need to fill in to complete a comment.  Normally we comment on as many cards as we are able to do, but the new words are really slowing us down!

In your settings on blogger, you are able to turn off word verification and change to a "moderation" setting. This means any comment you receive will appear on your dashboard and you can publish it later.  That way, design teams will be able to easily leave you some comment love!

I hope this makes sense and that you can understand why we may not have left you a comment this week.  As a design team, we work hard to make sure we comment on as many cards as we possibly can.  We know how important comments are to each of us!

If you have any questions about how to change from word verification to comment moderation, please leave us a comment with your email address and we will try to help you if we can!

Thank you!!  There is still time to join our current challenge! To play along, please CLICK HERE to see the design team samples and to link your creation.

Sincerely,
Lesley and the Paper Players

Winners for Challenge #82: Ann's Color Challenge

It was great to see that many of you were up to the challenge of Fire, Ice and Two NeutralsThank you so much to everyone who played along with us.  The Design Team is always amazed by the talent you bring to our challenges.  Having said that, let's take a peek at what grabbed the attention of the Design Team this week!

Our picks for A Cut Above

Lesley's Choice

When I clicked on Shanna's sweet card, my eye was immediately drawn to the cute paper piecing she had done on the "mommy-to-be" outfit!  The red gingham paper behind the main image is so completely adorable and the bow just adds to the sweetness of this card!  The stitching, looks great and adds to that homey feeling this card creates! Congratulations Shanna on being my choice for Cut Above this week.

LeAnne's Choice - Tracey
Tracey's clean styling, paired with the beautiful sketch she employed, all add up to a beautiful card!  The lovely butterfly, so beautifully cut and embellished, is a wonderful focal point, especially mounted on the embossed circle.  And her choice of designer papers complement each other so well!  The whole card is a delight for the eyes!  Congratulations,Tracey, on being my Cut Above this week!

Jaydee's Choice:  Lisa

I fell in love with Lisa's butterfly card.  the Soft Suede creates the perfect backdrop for the strong colors and the central panel was perfect for the sentiment and the butterflies.  I also loved the polka dotted panel and the paper pierced edge.  Clean and simple perfection!  Congratulations on being my Cut Above this week, Lisa.

Nance’s choice: Bobbie
Little Krafty: So Sweet

So sweet indeed!  Bobbie’s adorable scrapbook page stole my heart this week.  I struggle with scrapbooking and admire those, like Bobby, to whom it seems to come naturally.  This page is chock full of sweet details—rosette, pearls, hearts—and all of them work together to highlight that beautiful baby picture.   What a wonderful memento that will be treasured for years to come…congratulations Bobbie, you’re my choice for A Cut Above

Anne Marie's Choice: Justin

There were so many beautiful cards this week, it was so hard to choose just one. I just kept going back to Justin's fantastic birthday card. I love the beautiful balance of color and that layered flower just grabs your attention, instantly. The decorative brad in the center of the flower is the perfect finishing touch, too. A clean design that really packs a fun creative punch! Congratulations, Justin on being my choice this week for A Cut Above!

And now this week's Headliner:

Ann's Choice:  Erica Cerwin

Erica's card is a certainly a showstopper this week!  Clean and simple, with just the perfect accents, this card is fabulous! I love how the kite tails flow from square to square and then float right off the bottom of the page.  The tags are adorable, with just the right amount of bling.  But I think we would all agree that it is that bow...that glorious bow...that makes this piece of eye candy super sweet! Congratulations Erica, for being my choice for Headliner this week!

Be sure to stop by tomorrow for a clean and simple challenge from Anne Marie. I guarantee you will love it!
