Challenge #56 Winners

This week at the Paper Players, we loved peeking into your blogs to see the fabulous creations you shared with us! There were so many great entries in our Clean and Simple Sketch Challenge! Thank you so much to everyone who played along and shared their beautiful creations. Before we announce our Headliner for the challenge, we want to share the Design Team's picks for A Cut Above.

Ann's Choice:  Linda
010
How beautiful and clever is this card by Linda Fisher?  With a snip, snip here and a snip, snip there, she transformed these flowers from the Paisley Petals collection into a stunning focal point of her card.  And what could be a better way to complete this card than by adding bling in the form of rhinestones! Congratulation, Linda, for being my selection for A Cut Above!

Jaydee's Choice: Eli
I loved the light and airy feel of Eli's card.  The offset focal layer, the lofty, fabulously colored, balloon.  The way the circular elements of the sketch were both there, but did not detract from the focal image.  I also loved that Eli used two different colored buttons that connected the background color with the focal image.  Absolutely Clean and Simple. Absolutely fabulous.  Congratulations on being my Cut Above this week, Eli.

LeAnne's Choice - Robbie
I thought Robbie's card was the epitome of clean and simple and the images she used, along with the sweet sentiment, were just perfect for a thoughtful friendship card.  The Crumb Cake background reminded me of ocean sands, and the mellow blue medallions were just the right touch for the interpretation of the sketch.  This is an easily demonstratable card as well---something I often look for when perusing the submissions!  Congratulations, Robbie, on being my Cut Above!

Sandra's Choice - Rita
This week Rita's card instantly caught my eye. The delicate dollie and lattice folder backgrounds add terrific texture. Her bright colour combination and those super fun pinwheels all make for a fantastic card. Congratulations,  Rita on being a Cut Above this week!

Tui's Choice:  Julie Gearinger

I was caught hook, line and sinker by Julie's gorgeous card.  The tangerine tango and island indigo are so striking together, and coupled with the beautifully coloured flower - a stunning focal impact is created!  A beautiful, bright cheery card just perfect for someone who is under the weather!  Congratulations Julie on being my Cut Above for this week!

Nance's choice: Carrie
Carrie’s card caught my eye right away—well, who am I kidding—her cards always stand out!  What I love about it is how it beautifully demonstrates that clean and simple can be detailed too.  Look at those sweet little ribbon flowers each with a different center and an adorable tiny tag.  I love the fabric bow and how she’s coordinated it with a fabric center on the flower.  And those itty bitty brads add just enough shine for interest.  The classic color combination pairs so well with the equally elegant look of tone-on-tone stripes and the highlighted sentiment just pops!  All these reasons make Carrie’s card my choice this week for A Cut Above!  Congratulations, Carrie!

Lauri's Choice:  Susan
So many things about Susan's card caught my eye!  First, the gorgeous color combination...then the  outstanding crepe flower...and the pearls....and the layered image.  The combination and layers of textures makes this a scrumptious card and my pick this week for a Cut Above!

Now for our Headliner, this week:

Anne Marie's Choice: Leena Girsa
How can you NOT smile when you see this colorful creation? Leena's card is so bright and cheerful in every way! The perfect day brightener for a friend who is under-the-weather. I just love all of the details Leena added, like the paper-pieced umbrella, the glossy water droplets and the beautiful textures. The fun just keeps going on the inside of the card, too. Such an awesome take on the CAS sketch. Congratulations to you, Leena, on making headlines this week at the Paper Players!

Be sure to stop by tomorrow for another fun challenge with the Paper Players! The lovely Nance is our hostess and she has something fabulous cooked up for you. Have a great day today!

Challenge #55 Winners

The past two weeks have been filled with wonderful colour challenge cards and I was so impressed with how differently everyone used these fun colours! Once again you have made our decision difficult and narrowing it down is always a challenge! Thanks to everyone who played along. Without further ado, here are the Cut Above's choices!

The Cut Aboves:

LeAnne's Choice
Susan Joyce of Cat's Ink.Corporated
Oh, what a fun bunch of snowmen Susan has used here on her cute Christmas card! You can never be too early to create Christmas cards, in my opinion, and with her snowmen's color-coordinated accessories, glittery accents and the snowy embossed background, she's got a jolly card anyone would enjoy receiving! Congrats, Susan, for being my Cut Above this week!

Nance's Choice:
Mindy Backes of Bada-Bing! Paper-Crafting
I just love Mindy's fun and happy balloon card! I adore the background cloud stamping and the sparkly balloon but most of all I love the feeling of motion the layout creates. Stamping some of the balloons just off the side and top edges as well as throughout the main panel evokes a hot air balloon ride for me. I can picture the balloons scrolling across the front of the card! The perfect little pop of Poppy down the middle and the perfectly positioned sentiment wrap up all the fun little details on this one! Congratulations, Mindy, you're my Cut Above!

Lauri's Choice
Another week with so many lovely cards! Raquel's card is my pick for a Cut Above this week for many reasons. The card has a wonderful design, and is a beautiful combination of our challenge colors. The butterflies, however, stand out as the element that takes the card over the top! Congrats Raquel for being my choice this week for A Cut Above!

Ann's Choice: Amanda
Fabulous cards begin with a fabulous foundation. A Mojo sketch is always a great starting point, and that is exactly where Amanda began with this card. Plus, she combined subtle touches to give her creation that special spark! A balsa wood layer anchors her flower, while a newsprint scallop adds visual contrast. Of course, the flagged sentiment is the perfect finishing touch! Congratulations, Amanda, for being my choice for A Cut Above!

Anne Marie's Choice: Kim P.
There were so many great cards this week using this awesome color combo, it was difficult to select just one. I picked Kim's nautical-themed card this week because of all the wonderful details she added. The striped paper is a perfect match with the stamped image and the torn layers add that extra-special touch. I especially liked the popped up layer on the sentiment. Congratulations, Kim on being my choice for A Cut Above this week!

Jaydee's Choice: Kim S.
I loved this clean and simple card from Kim. The sentiment font worked so well with these fabulous circles and stars. Kim managed to create even more movement by ensuring that the lines on the circles went in different directions. Masterful! The addition of the single button with the twine was the perfect finishing touch. Kim's card proved, once again, that clean and simple can be simply stunning. Congratulations on being my choice of CUT ABOVE this week, Kim.

Tui's Choice
Jen - I Create
This week Jen's card was a stand out for me. The bright blocks of colour upon a neutral background creates a feature upon which to showcase the beautiful bold flower in all it's glory, dimension heaven ... from the cardstock layers to the button and finally the twine bow all layered upon a faux stitched background ... oh this is just lovely!!! Congratulations Jen, on being my pick for Cut Above this week!

Sandra's Choice - Lisa
What is there not to love about Lisa's charming card? Nothing! I love it all! Lisa has managed to create an aquapainted masterpiece with her beautifully coloured image. How I wish I had a spot like that in my garden! The combination of stripes and polka dots in the background look fantastic together. The bow with a tiny butterfly charm dangling from it, is the perfect finishing touch. Congratulations, Lisa on being my choice for a Cut Aboce this week!

Headliner:
Lesley's Choice
Julie Gearinger of Stamping with Julie
I absolutely adore Julie's card this week. The colours highlight this sweet stamp set perfectly! The distressed and embossed background create a beautiful backdrop for the pretty little bird! I love the spritzed area behind the bird too! Her bow is absolutely exquisite and the sentiment over to the side is a special touch, adding a unique and oh so  Julie style to her card! I love it! Congratulations Julie for being our Headliner this week!

Be sure to stop back tomorrow to play along with our new challenge!
