Paper Players Plus Challenge #36 - Fun with Fabric

Hi everyone, Nance here! I am so happy to bring you our Paper Players Plus Challenge. This is one where we get to do something a little out of the norm, a little quirky if you will! So we're challenging you to have "Fun with Fabric"!

Anything woven qualifies as fabric here so ribbon, lace, crochet trim along with fabric is all good! You don't have to sew to have fun with this one! Cut some fabric with a die, layer different ribbons on a card, make a lace flower--whatever you can dream up! We can't wait to see it but you have to load your creation on The Paper Players blog by midnight March 4th to be considered for the design team's selections! And speaking of our design team, let's see what they have created for you:

LeAnne Pugliese - WeeInklings

Lesley Croghan - Always Playing with Paper

Kerin Sylvester - Stamps, Paper, Glitter!

Stephanie Uzee - Stampin'withSuzee

Nance Leedy - Canopy Crafts

Wow, just goes to show how much fun you can have with fabric! Now, let's see your creations--we can't wait.
Cheers,
Nance

Sketch Challenge #35 ~ Winners

What another great week at the Paper Players!! We loved peeking into your blogs and seeing what you did with the sketch this week!

The CUT ABOVE choices for this week are:

Ann's Choice --- Jeannie

I was blown away by Jeannie's fabulous peony and vellum butterflies! The Garden Green and Pretty in Pink color combination is like a breath of spring! Topped with a Crumb Cake bow and accented with Vintage Vogue wheel work, this card was a winner in my book. Congratulations, Jeannie!

Jaydee's Choice: Susan's Autumn Pheasant

I loved Susan's treatment of the background to the pheasant. The sponging was wonderful. Her paper snipping skills were put to great use on the pheasant and the individual leaves. I had forgotten that our antipodean crafting friends are actually going into Autumn - and this card fits perfectly. I also loved the perfectly matted vertical strips in the background. Gorgeous card. Loved everything about it. Congratulations, Susan.

Kerin's Choice: Kathy Tanner

Kathy's fabulous ribbon flowers caught my eye instantly! I loved the softly sponged edges, with the perfectly placed butterfly. The combination of textures and soft colors is lovely, and the bling just puts it over the top! Congratulations Kathy!

Stephanie's Choice - Sara Hoogendoorn

I have choosen Sara's Simple yet Elegant card this week. I love the panels of white on textured white with that little pop of color. The perfect touch for this card is then stunning flower and how life like it is. Congratulations Sara!

Nance's choice: Christy Q

I was immediately drawn to Christy's card because of her paper and color selection.  This is among my all-time favorite [retired] designer paper.  When I really looked at her card, there are so many design elements repeated throughout that make for such a cohesive design.  I love the polka dot paper with the swiss dot embossing and the Circle Circus stamp, brads and even a circle in the "world"!  But it doesn't stop there--the ovals on the black patterned paper flow into the oval focal piece which brings your eye around to the sentiment.  Wonderfully done, Christy!  Congratulations!

And our HEADLINER for Challenge #35 is:

Lesley's Choice:  Carla of Carla's Scraps

I just fell in love with Carla's Spring Inspired card! The clean lines of the striped designer paper panels and the layered heart, made this clean and bright beauty a stand out for me!  I especially love how she used the sketch on a white card base and her sweet flowers look perfect all blinged out!!!  Congratulations Carla!!!

Congratulations to our winners! Please visit the top of the blog page and click on the "Winner Badges" and that will take you to the page where you can copy your winning badge for your blog. If you have any questions, please be sure to leave a comment here for us.

Tomorrow we will be back with our end of the month challenge from Nance. She has a sweet one all cooked up and it promises to be lots of fun!!!

Smiles,
Lesley

Paper Players Challenge #34 - Winners

Hi Everyone

Firstly, the team would like to apologize for the issues we had at the beginning of the week with Mr Linky. We hope that the issue has now been resolved and that we shouldn't have a repeat of this issue.

Thank you to those of you who persevered through our problems and got your creations loaded. Boy, were they worth it! The cards you made for our challenge this week were incredible! It was such a pleasure to visit each of your blogs and check out your wonderful creations. It seemed much harder than usual to pick our winners this week.

Here are the design team's choices for CUT ABOVE

Kerin's choice: Anne Marie Hile
I love Anne Marie's combination of texture, design & bling! The scallop circle that mimics the flowers and the fabulous bow are perfect touches the finish this beauty off!

Nance's choice: Denise Willerton
I love Denise's attention to vintage detail with the script background, distressed edges, frayed ribbon, oh my! It's so rich and warm and the perfect card for a wonderful friend...and did you see the inside?! Wow, quilled flowers! Just gorgeous--great job Denise!

Ann's Choice: Julie Gearinger
Texture, pearls and a gorgeous bow! How could I resist this lovely creation by Julie! It's a perfect balance of bold colors, off-set by the delicate flowers. Congratulations on this beauty, Julie!

Stephanie's Choice - Ruff Life
I love the simply vintage elegance of this card from Ruff Life! I love all of the distressed edges, and the center image from really tones down the boldness of the challenge colors. Great Job on being a Cut Above this week!

And here is my choice for HEADLINER:

Jaydee's choice: Jen's Go Confidently

I love the way that Jen had used the Go Confidently sentiment on her focal point. Cutting out the "direction" and mounting it really added dimension and interest to the sentiment. The little bow underneath seems to underline the sentiment. I loved the use of the middle of the medallion stamp layered with a circle and a scalloped circle. A gorgeous card and I know her niece will love it. Congratulations, Jen.

As I said earlier.... it was a week of AWESOME cards. I think one of the most difficult weeks we had so far. The design team all commented on how hard it had been to choose, we really would loved to have given you all a CUT ABOVE status..

We really look forward to seeing what you all do with Lesley's sketch challenge this week.

Have a fabulous Saturday everyone.
Hugs
Jaydee

Paper Players Challenge # 34 - Color Challenge

Hi Everyone.

Jaydee here, again. It is my pleasure to host the challenge this week. We have a great color challenge for you. Well, I think it's great... cos I chose the colors :-) I was in awe of what the design team came up with using this combo and can't wait to see what you all do!

Now, we know what a talented group of crafters you are, so we are really excited to see what you do with our challenge this week.

Don't forget, you can also add a different color if you need to. You can see that Ann added Early Espresso to her card for her focal image and Kerin highlighted her gorgeous bird with a darker color, they both then incorporated the other colors and, as you can see, they worked beautifully. We hope you have fun with it... experiment... we can't wait to see what you create.

Here are a couple of reminders for you:
  • Even though we use Stampin' Up! products, you are welcome to use whatever stamps you choose
  • Link your new creation - 3D, card or scrapbook page to our challenge site, and put a link to our challenge on your site
  • You have until Friday night at 11:59pm CST to link your new creation to our site
  • Each of the design team members will choose their pick for the week and winners will be displayed on Saturday
I thought it might be a good idea to remind you how our judging works.

Question 1: Why do you each choose a winner? Each of our design team members has a particular style preference. For example, I tend to be attracted to clean and simple or bold and elegant, whilst Ann has a strong preference for vintage. Having each of us choose a winner, allows us to showcase more styles and more cards and stops us favoring one particular style over the other.

Question 2: Do you confer with each other about your choices?
No. Our choices are individual and we don't know what each other has chosen until we load our own particular choice.

Question 3: Who chooses The Headliner for the week? The person who is hosting the challenge for the week gets to choose The Headliner. The rest of the design team get to choose a Cut Above. As I am hosting the challenge this week, it is my honor and privilege to choose the Headliner for this week.

Question 4: Why do you have guest designers?
Once again, the core design team has their own distinct styles. Inviting guest designers onto our team helps to keep the content fresh, as each new guest designer brings a different feel to our inspiration cards, and it gives us an opportunity to showcase some of the amazing work of our challenge players.

We really do have a tremendous team of designers and guest designers. We also have an amazingly talented group of people who play along with our challenges. You always make it very difficult for us to choose every week. I know that I go backwards and forwards every week before I make my choice.

We also love visiting each of your blogs and are very appreciative of the fact that you play along with us. Without you, there would be no challenge site!

Let's take a look at what our talented design team have for you this week.

LeAnne Pugliese - WeeInklings

Stephanie Uzee - Stampin'withSuzee

Kerin Sylvester - Stamps, Paper, Glitter!

Nance Leedy - Canopy Crafts

Ann Schach - The Stampin' Schach

Remember, you have until Friday at 11.59 CST to link your creation to our challenge site.

UPDATE 2/15... Mr Linky is now fixed. Please feel free to add your creations from tonight onwards. We will visit those of you who left your creations via comments and also link them for you over the next day or so. Thanks for your patience

We can't wait to see what YOU come up with.

Hugs
Jaydee

Challenge # 33 - Love is in the Air - Winners

Love certainly was in the air last week as is evidenced by all of you who participated in our challenge. There were so many fabulous entries. The members of the Design Team certainly had their work cut out for them. Let's see which projects were selected for our "A Cut Above" awards!

LeAnne's Choice: Rosemarie Diehl

How sweet is this?! Clean & simple has always been one of my favorite styles, and Rose really scored with this little Crumb Cake card with its beribboned envelope and glittery hearts escaping from inside! Just as cute as can be! Congrats, Rosemarie!

Stephanie's Choice - Marlene Peters

I loved everything about Marlene's LOVE card for her husband...the DSP, the color combo, the boldness! Of course that fantastic Red Glitter paper truly makes this a great card for A Cut Above this week! Congratulations, Marlene!

Kerin's Choice - Elaine

The crisp contrast of black & white with a pop of color on Elaine's card is simply fabulous! The added texture and framing of the main image are also delightful! And how about that little cutie dangling from the balloon? Too sweet! Congrats Elaine!

Nance's choice: Anne Marie

I love Anne Marie's balloon full of love card! Glimmer paper, rhinestones, a great color combination and a fun layout send this card far above the clouds...just perfect for A Cut Above! Congratulations, Anne Marie!

Jaydee's Choice: Tara's romantic valentine

I loved Tara's card. The colors are so striking. I love the mixture of papers. I love the scalloped border on the music paper mixed with the perfect polka dot embossing folder. Of course, I love the flowers. The finishing touch for me was the sentiment in a half circle. Just gorgeous! Congratulations, Tara!

And now for this week's Headliner:

Ann's Choice - Colleen Dietrich

Colleen's shabby chic card this week caught my eye immediately. The french script image, with the soft sponging, is so romantic, as are the pearls on the chandelier. The flowers with their distressed edges are beautiful. But the perfect touch on this card is the charm from which the chandelier is suspended! Congratulations on being our Headliner this week, Colleen!

The Paper Players would like to thank all of you for your participation. We invite you to join us tomorrow for our next challenge, hosted by the talented Jaydee! See you then!

Anything Goes Challenge # 32 - Winners

Hi Guys, Jaydee here. Lesley is unable to post our winners this week, so it is my honor to do that on her behalf!

First of all, the Paper Players would like to thank all of you for your wonderful support of our first ever blog hop. We were blown away by how many of you hopped along with us. You guys are all awesome! As you know, several of the blog hop hostesses had blog candy on offer. They will be sharing the names of the blog hop candy winners on their blog posts this week - so don't forget to check back with them on Sunday.

Now, on to our Cut Above and Headliner choices this week. Once again, you all made it very difficult for us to choose. There really is so much amazing talent out in the blogosphere. The Players really do love visiting your creations and are so grateful that you play along with us.

Here are the choices for Cut Above:

Jaydee's Choice: Cindy's Nature Walk

Cindy's card is stunning. I loved the seam binding ribbon with the lace and the vintage tag. The colors were gorgeous. I also loved the butterfly just about to land on the flowers. In fact, there was nothing I didn't love about this card! All round, a beautifully composed work of art. Congratulations, Cindy!

Ann's Choice - Cindy Beach

What gorgeous details! From the textured flowers to the pearlized accents on the leaves and embossed tulips...this card has it all! The Blushing Bride Designer Series Paper is perfectly paired with a Sahara Sand card base, while the Filigree Brad and pearl forms the perfect floral center. Congratulations, Cindy on this fabulous card!

Nance's choice: Susan Joyce

I love Susan's Chinese New Year card! The combination of stamp sets and the computer generated banner are so much fun and her coloring on the little girl's kimono is fabulous! If all that wasn't enough, the layout looks like a shoji screen--so perfect for an Asian-inspired card. Congratulations Susan and happy year of the rabbit to you!

Julie's Choice- Einat

I love the photo of this darling girl dressed in her vintage clothing- she is so striking! The tag elements on the left hand side with all of the gorgeous lace and pearls add to the overall vintage feel and this card is absolutely stunning- Congrats, Einat a true masterpiece!

LeAnne's Choice - Veronica

This card is just so full of sweetness, from the stitched polka dot background on the kraft card to the cute little pastel-colored images! The flowers, pearls and luscious satin ribbon & bow add more sugar! Congrats, Veronica!

Anne-Marie's choice: Jheri Lynn's: Sick Man

With so many fabulous entries this week, you all made the decision pretty tough. I chose Jheri Lynn's adorable, little "sick man" for my Cut Above this week. With cold and flu season upon us, what better way to share a get well wish then with this sweet care package? Jheri Lynn's little guy has so many great details, right down to the tired eyes and the thermometer. Poor guy! Congrats Jheri Lynn on your Cut Above pick this week.

And, here is our Headliner:

Lesley's choice: Marian's Nature Scenic

Lesley loved Marian's sponged background. The fabulous colors and the way the Nature Walk stamp had been incorporated. She also loved the DSP in the background and the gorgeous bow with the little tag. The embossed butterfly added just the perfect touch! Congratulations, Marian on being our Headliner this week. Your card is gorgeous!

Don't forget to join us tomorrow for our new challenge.

Have a wonderful Saturday night and thank you to all of you for joining us on our challenge again this week.
