Challenge #17-LeAnne's Inspiration Challenge

Welcome back to a new week and a new challenge! LeAnne here, and it's my turn to be the hostess--and this week, it's an inspiration challenge. You may know that I have a new granddaughter, so naturally, my interests are turning to all things baby girl! I found this cute little punkin at zulily:

Doesn't she make you smile? I thought her little outfit would make a FUN challenge for us all! So get creative and see what you can do with it. Please post it on your blog or an online gallery with the key word PP17 and then link it below! Here's my take on the inspiration photo, made for a friend who's going through some surgery:

Now let's see what our other talented designers have created this week:

Winners for Challenge 16-A Sketch

WOW!  Another terrific week of card making here at the Paper Players Challenge blog!  Thank you to everyone who joined us and played with the sketch.  We loved all the submissions for this week's Sketch Challenge!  Everyone on the Design Team at the Paper Players gets the chance to choose their favourite for the week!  The person hosting the the challenge for the week, gets to choose the Headliner.  Usually we post the Headliner first but we have decided to change things up a bit and have posted our Cut Above Winners first!

The Cut Aboves for this week are:

LeAnne's Choice: Shelley at Shelley's Creations

If I could, I would own every Halloween stamp there is--obviously, I can't do that, so I enjoy them vicariously through others' cards! This is such a cute way to highlight the images in this set, so it was my choice for this week! Just love all the fun spookiness!

Ann's Choice: Carrie Gaskin

Vintage style and creativity abound in this stunning creation by Carrie Gaskin, making it my pick this week! I love how Carrie made the sketch her own! Adding three different elements into her ruffled crocheted lace trim, maintained the integrity of the sketch, while the layered sentiment perfectly complimented the floral image! The Artistic Avenger strikes again with another work of beauty!

Jaydee's choice: Anne Marie's Bag Therapy

There were so many great cards again this week..... but... I just couldn't resist the sentiment or the subject matter! Like Anne Marie, I have a "little" collection of bags! I loved Anne Marie's use of punches, brads and the Greenhouse Gala DSP. The Paper Piecing was perfect.

 Nance's choice: Tracey Parrot

There is a lot to love about Tracey's card but the color combination and the leaves on the squares caught my eye right away.  I love how she modified the sketch with the leaves and the browns and blues are so rich for an autumn card.  Lastly, the leaf from French Foliage looks fantastic on the die cut.  Kudos, Tracey!

So now for our Headliner...

Lesley's Choice: Carrie Gaskin

I also chose Carrie Gaskin's beautiful vintage creation as my favourite this week!  Her clever way of representing the three elements on the right side of the card and the vibrant colours made me stop and say "Wow!"  Congratulations Carrie on your double win this week!

To our Winners this week, please grab your winner badges from the left hand side of our blog for your blog!

To all our participants this week, thank you for joining us!  Tomorrow we have a great Inspiration Challenge from LeAnne....that is both sweet and colourful!  Please check back here tomorrow for some more fun from the Paper Players!

Smiles,
Lesley

Paper Players Challenge #16-A Sketch

To see the winners for last week's Colour Challenge, please click HERE.

Hello and welcome to another Sketch Challenge at the Paper Players. This week I decided to create something a little different. Notice the square shapes down the one side of the card can be any shape...please feel free to use snowflakes, hearts, circles...the sky's the limit!

The design team has put together some gorgeous inspiration for you all!!! It is always wonderful to see what the Paper Players do with one of my sketches! They have blown me away with their creativity!!! I can't wait to see what you come up with! The main thing is to have fun and to make the sketch your own...so flip it if you want...this sketch is merely meant to inspire you...although it is nice if the main sketch design is still recognizable.

Here are their creations...

Winners for Challenge #15---A Color Challenge

Another week as flown by, and it is time to announce the winners for Challenge #15...A Color Challenge. As always, the Design Team would like to thank all of you who participated. Your cards and projects were creative and inspiring in their use of the challenge colors.
If you remember from two challenges ago, Lesley decided to make a permanent change to the judging - and the design team is thrilled about it. Each week, the Design Team member who "owns" the challenge for that week, has the honor of picking the Headliner, while the remaining members of the Design Team will get to choose a "Cut Above". How great is this!

Therefore, it is my honor to announce that the Headliner for Challenge #15---A Color Challenge is:

This week, Diane, of Rubber 'n Rafters, has created a beautiful fall card. First of all, I love the layout, which is perfect for showing off the perfectly colored image from Autumn Harvest. The use of the Photo Corner on multiple layers accents both the background mat, as well as the image. And in a final perfect detail, she has added three tiny tags. Classy with a country twist!

Our Cut Above Winners are:
Jackie's Halloween card
Jaydee's choice

I loved this card from Jackie. It was so unexpected and I loved the way she incorporated the colors into this kid friendly halloween card. the moon and the bats were perfect... as for the owl....loved him and his vest treatment!

Lesley's Choice
I chose Anne Marie's gorgeous card because I loved the sparkle she added to her fan flower! The different textures and designer papers also made this card a stand out for me!

Nance's pick: Jennifer Weide
For her gorgeous use of the French Foliage set in this week's colors and the creative way she featured the sentiment, I chose Jennifer Weide's beautiful Thanksgiving card.

LeAnne's Pick: Patti Corriere

I really enjoy doing this layout myself, and so my eye gravitated to Patti's pretty card here! The elements are nicely done and the CAS style appeals to me as well!

I enjoyed hosting my first challenge for The Paper Players! Congratulations to all our winners...and remember to grab your winner's button from the left sidebar. Plus a huge thank you goes out to all of you who submitted your creations. It was a difficult task for us to select our winners...there were so many fabulous entries! We hope that you will join us again this week for our Sketch Challenge. Until next time...Ann

Winners for Challenge #14-Clean and Simple

Hi Everyone.
WOW!!!! Another amazing week. The design team is so thrilled that you all decided to play along again this week and share with us another set of incredibly creative - and fabulous - clean and simple cards.

Lesley decided to make a permanent change to the judging - and the design team is thrilled about it. Each week the DT member who "owns" the challenge for that week will get to pick the headliner and the rest of the DT will get to choose a "Cut Above". I think it was a masterful move from Lesley. So, thank you, Lesley.

This week, it is my pleasure to decide on the Headliner for this week........ and you guys didn't make it easy, I can tell you! I visited every card and couldn't make up my mind - so ended up going back for a second round! It was really fun visiting with you all.

So, it is my absolute honor to announce the Headliner for our Clean and Simple theme challenge.

I loved the layout, the fabulously colored leaves, the little knot of ribbon, the fact that the leaves and acorns were paper snipped and mounted - and the color scheme. This was a true CAS card but had so much visual interest - and it all tied together so beautifully. So congratulations on being our Headliner this week, Patti.

For her fabulous use of gorgeous designer paper and a perfectly clean-and-simple layout, I chose this beauty by Diane Oliver.
I just LOVE this card from Caroline LeBel! The DP she used and how she picked up the colors for her sentiment, topped off by the simple embellished butterfly, just made me smile!
I chose Angela's sweet mitten card because I loved the way she showcased the designer paper and used the mittens in such a simple yet effective way! No colouring! A true CAS card and she even jazzed up her ribbon!

This fabulous single layer creation, by Petra, symbolizes my definition of a true "clean and simple" card. The black and white color combination is classy and elegant, while the liquid pearls add just the perfect touch of bling!

I had a blast as the host for the Clean and Simple challenge. Congratulations to all our winners, please grab your winner's button from the left sidebar and thank you to all of you who submitted your creations. You certainly made choosing our winners a difficult job, but we really did enjoy visiting your cards. We hope that you will join us again this week for our Colour Challenge.

Paper Players Challenge #14-Jaydee's Clean and Simple Theme Challenge

Hi Everyone.

I have one word for you this week AWESOME. The Oxford English Dictionary defines awesome as an:

adjective
  • extremely impressive or daunting; inspiring awe
Well, that describes all of your creations for our Anything Goes challenge last week. The quality of submissions was truly awesome! Thank you to all of you for joining us, and congratulations to the winners.

Now... on to this week's challenge. Lesley has assigned the first week of the month as a THEME CHALLENGE and it is my turn to choose the theme for this week. So, this week's theme is:

CLEAN AND SIMPLE

The great thing about clean and simple..... we all define it a little differently. As you can see from our fabulous design team inspiration cards. We invite you to share with all of us the clean and simple creation you make this week. It can be a card, a 3D project, or a scrap page. Also, it can be any topic: birthday, Christmas, thank you, anniversary - just so long as the overall feel of your creation is clean and simple.

All you need to do is to link your creation to the url of the actual post on your blog (as opposed to your home page on your blog), or to a social media site such as splitcoaststampers.

You have until 9pm EST (6pm PST) on Saturday 11 September to link your awesome creation. After that winners will be chosen and announced on Sunday September 12.

We do hope you will join us. The design team really enjoys visiting each of your sites and getting to know a little about each of you. Your work is also an inspiration for other players, so we do hope you will join us.

Now..... over to YOU!
Have a fabulous Labor Day weekend!

Winners for Challenge #13-Anything Goes

Wow! Over 100 entries this week! I am amazed by the participants and their beautiful works of art we have had this week at the Paper Players! With all these gorgeous projects to choose from, I have enlisted the help from my terrific Paper Player Team to assist me in choosing their favourite from all the entries this week! There was no way I could do it alone! So this week we will have one Headliner and four Cut Aboves!!!

I have the honour of choosing this week's talented Headliner....Cindy Beach of Stamps, Paper and Ink. I loved the way she used the new Christmas Background Stamp and sponged the egdes. The embossing folder mimics the DSP perfectly...this is such a beautiful card! Look at that perfect bow! I had never been to Cindy's blog before, it was wonderful finding her beautiful work!

And the fabulous Cut Above Winners chosen by our DT Team...

Ann's Pick
Because of her attention to detail and rich color combination, I selected this lovely card by Tara Bilbao. With its lace, cross-stitching, texture, tiny tag and impeccable coloring...this card is a country-vintage delight!

Nance's Pick
Because this is such a clever and creative idea, I choose this golf tee holder by Nancy Lempinen. I love the use of the On the Green stamp and the thoughtful attention to the inside as well as the outside. Such a great gift idea!

Marlene's Pick
Because everything about this card goes with the theme, I chose this great shaker card by Pattie Gomez. I love her attention to detail. From the seaweed, to the water sploshes and even the bubbles on the acetate. Great card for a special little girl!

Jaydee's Pick
Because I kept being drawn back to the serene quality of Cam's card. There were so many amazing submissions this week that it was very hard to choose. I love the color scheme, but the torn, feathered edge of the Concord Crush works so beautifully against the Lace ribbon. The pop of green with the scalloped border helps to tie the bottom half and the top half of the cards together. The butterflies are fabulous against the Lavender stamped images. It's a soft, serene and beautiful card.

Congrats to all our winners this week! Please grab your badge by copying and pasting it into your blog! The badges are located on the left sidebar. Thank you to all the participants who found us and played along. It was nice visiting your blogs and seeing what other crafters are doing out there!

Tomorrow we have a brand new Theme Challenge hosted by Jaydee...it is a fun one, and we hope to see you back here to play along!

Smiles,
Lesley :)
